Spine Road Drop-off upgrade begins

16 May 2024

The City’s Urban Waste Management Directorate will start upgrading the Spine Road Drop-off facility on Wednesday, 15 May 2024. During this time, the public may experience delays when visiting the site.

The upgrade project involves maintenance to the surface of the ramp and installation of edge protectors or barricades for the protection of drop-off users. This is to ensure the safety of our residents while they are dropping off their waste items.

The upgrade is expected to last about seven weeks. During this time, the facility will remain operational, but users may experience some delays and disruptions. Residents can use alternative drop-off sites to avoid these possible delays. Swartklip and Schaapkraal facilities are the closest alternatives, however a full list of the City's drop-off sites can be found here. Please do not resort to dumping.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time. The City of Cape Town remains committed to providing efficient waste management services to its residents.
